Doubt
The highly popular play Doubt was an effort in the Allen Bales Theatre at The University of Alabama. The Bales is generally reserved for the MFA directing candidates to mount their productions. It features a 3/4 thrust stage and notoriously tiny budgets. I was alloted $600 dollars for this show, nearly all of that went to 3/4" EPS foam to carve the stones.
The Arcade with the crucifix was built for this show, as well as the arches for the recessed windows.
The planters were upended 1' wide platforms constructed out of 5/4" lumber -- a material we can't get in Tuscaloosa anymore.

The foam carving process took a great deal of communication-- in some places the foam is 4-5 inches thick and had to be sculpted once by the scenic charge, fit by the TD, passed back to the paint team for touch ups, hung by the TD and have a final touch up once in place.
